The fearful mother of a woman trapped in Gaza has told how she desperately waits for morning messages from her daughter 'to see if she's made it through the night'.

Lalah Ali-Faten, 52, from Prestwich, near Bury, said 'from one minute to the next' she doesn't know if her daughter, Zaynab Wandawi, is still alive.

Ms Wandawi, a teacher from Salford, travelled to Gaza at the beginning of October with her husband, who is British Palestinian, and his family, including seven siblings and his mother, for a family member's wedding.
