Diesel car or van owners between 2009 and 2020 have just one day left to potentially benefit from a legal claim. This comes as Audi and Volkswagen (VW) face regulatory action over allegations that some of their diesel cars contained 'defeat devices' to cheat emissions tests, leading to the scandal now known as 'dieselgate'.Law firms argue that affected vehicles produced more harmful pollution than advertised.

As a result, those impacted may be eligible for financial compensation. They could argue they wouldn't have bought the vehicle if they'd known about the alleged emissions flaw, paid more than necessary believing the car was environmentally efficient, or had to pay for repairs to meet emissions standards.Several court hearings have already taken place since December 2024, with around 1.2 million people holding claims against 16 car manufacturers.

After the last hearing in March this year, the High Court set deadlines for new claimants to join the case. One such deadline for Vauxhall customers who believe they've been affected ends this weekend on Sunday, September 22.

Bingham Long law firm is offering its services with maximum fees of 40% in awarded damages plus VAT, as well as a contribution towards 'after the event' cover. If you're uncertain whether your vehicle is impacted, Bingham Long's website provides a tool where you can input the registration number of the Vauxhall vehicle you suspect might be affected.
