Legendary basketball player Willis Reed has sadly passed away at the ago of 80. The news was revealed on Tuesday (March 21) by sports columnist Peter Vecsey, who says the former athlete died that morning. Keep reading to find out more… “Just received word that Willis Reed, 80, passed this morning,” Peter said. “He has suffered from congestive heart problems over the past year or so, and was going through rehab to walk.
Loved everything about Willis! A man’s man!!” Willis was drafted by the New York Knicks in 1964 and played with the team for his entire 10-season career.
He’s still considered to be one of the greatest basketball players of all time. In 1977, three years after retiring as a player, Willis became the head coach of the Knicks for a few years.
