If you haven’t heard of it, Traptox, catchily shortened from ‘trapezius Botox’, is “a procedure that entails the administration of Botox injections directly into the trapezius muscles situated on both sides of the neck,” explains Emma Wedgwood, aesthetic nurse and founder of Emma Wedgwood Aesthetics.
She continues: “These muscles play a crucial role in shoulder and neck movement and stability. However, due to factors like extended poor posture, stress, and the strain of carrying heavy loads, they often accumulate tension and knots.” So what does Traptox do to help lighten the load (figuratively)? “In terms of health benefits, it can offer significant relief from neck and shoulder discomfort arising from muscle tension,” Emma says. “Aesthetically, the administered Botox temporarily relaxes the targeted muscles, reducing muscle contractions and releasing accumulated tension.
Consequently, the neck can appear elongated as the muscles responsible for pulling it downwards are momentarily weakened.” This elongated neck is what’s given the treatment the nickname “Barbie Botox”.The release of the movie this July has had quite an impact on our fashion and beauty habits, with watchers keen to recreate Margot Robbie’s coordinated on-screen looks and delicate facial features.
