What's expected in the King's Speech? The first new laws Labour want to pass
manchestereveningnews.co.ukThe first new laws that Labour want to pass now that they are in power will be unveiled in the King's Speech tomorrow (July 17).
The government has said that more than 35 bills are being worked on with the full list to be announced by King Charles at the State Opening of Parliament which starts at 11am.
In his speech, the monarch will set out Labour's legislative agenda for the coming months. Sources are staying tight-lipped about the exact contents of the King's Speech, but the government has said economic growth will be 'at the heart' of it.
Among the bills expected to feature are new workers' rights, public ownership of railways and anti-spiking laws.
