The vast majority of Dumfries and Galloway eateries have received the thumbs up from inspectors. Research by online training provider High Speed Training reveals that more than 95 per cent of outlets received a pass under the Food Hygiene Information Scheme.
That sees environmental health officers look at safety systems, examine food hygiene and speak to staff. At the end of it, the business receives either a “pass” or an “improvement required” notice, meaning work needs to be done to bring it up to standard.
The highest pass rate among Scotland’s 32 local authorities was in South Ayrshire, with an impressive 99.81 per cent making the grade.
Dumfries and Galloway’s pass rate of 95.1 per cent among 770 businesses rated, put it 13 in the standings. The national rate was 92.5 per cent – up slightly from 92.13 per cent last year.
