Two men arrested on suspicion of murdering Scot who vanished last month

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a Scots who was reported missing last month.Paul Taylor, 57, has not been seen since leaving his home in Annan some time after 9.45pm on Tuesday, October 17.

Cops have confirmed they are treating the disappearance as a murder after receiving new information.Officers from Cumbria Police have arrested two 19-year-old men, from the Carlisle area on suspicion of murder.

Both remain in police custody. A 37-year-old man from Carlisle and a 17-year-old boy, from Appleby, have also been arrested today on suspicion of assisting an offender, and the pair remain in custody.Police say Paul's family are being supported by family liaison officers and have been informed of the change in the nature of the investigation.After the last sighting of Paul on October 17 his car travelled towards Carlisle shortly before midnight via the M6 Southbound.

It's believed the car then headed in the direction of the Kingmoor South area of Carlisle at around 11:35pm and also the Carlisle West area.Potential further sightings of the car in the Yewdale, Sandsfield Park and Brough Road areas are being investigated, but police say they are still conducting a number of enquiries to narrow down the route he took.His car, a blue Vauxhall Corsa, was found abandoned two days later in Langwathby at around 8:45am on Thursday October 19.Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Pattinson said: "We have been working round the clock to try and find Paul since he was last seen on Tuesday 17th October.
