Emergency services raced to a small Scots town in the earlier hours of Saturday morning after receiving reports of a disturbance.Concerned residents shared images of a huge police presence in Mayfield, Midlothian at around 5am on December 9.The full details of the incident are still to be established and it is unknown if anyone was injured but one 37-year-old man has been arrested.Eyewitnesses report that officers and fire crews raced to the street at around 5am and were still at the scene at 8.30am.
According to residents living nearby, around 15 police cars descended on the area. In images shared with Edinburgh Live, two police vans and three sprinter cars lined up along the street.
A large number of officers are crowded together. It is understood that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was also at the scene up until 11am to assist the police during the incident.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.20am on Saturday, 9 December, officers were called to a report of a disturbance in the Old School Crescent area of Maryfield, Dalkeith."They added:“A 37-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.”Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here .
