Residents are 'living in fear' on a Fallowfield estate which has been plagued by anti-social behaviour, an MP has claimed. Afzal Khan, Labour MP for Manchester Rusholme, has written an open letter to the police and local housing association over issues reportedly blighting the Bethnall Drive estate in the south Manchester suburb.

Mr Khan, who penned the letter with other local councillors, claims children have been 'beaten up' and 'threatened with knives in the street'.

He also claimed there are issues with congested parking, with 'regular' issues for drivers picking up and dropping off children at local St Kentigern's Primary School. Sharing the letter publicly on social media, Mr Khan said: "Anti-social behaviour has been a long standing problem on the estate, with some residents telling us they live in fear. "There have been examples of retaliation for reporting.
