Tram bosses have warned passengers to avoid Piccadilly Gardens. It comes as police try to control a number of protest marches in the city centre.
In a statement Metrolink said: "Given the events currently taking place in Manchester city centre, there maybe disruption to services and we're advising passengers to avoid Piccadilly Gardens." The request as come as police have issued a dispersal order for the whole of Manchester city centre until 7pm.
It means officers have extra powers to deal with anyone taking part in or causing anti-social behaviour. A demonstration entitled 'Stand Up For Your Country: Enough is Enough' was held in the city centre and a counter protest - 'Stop The Far Right' was also staged.
The Trans Pride Manchester march is also being held and a regular Ukrainian solidarity event and an event organised by the Manchester Palestinian Action regarding the conflict in Gaza.
