A thug has been jailed for life after leaving his step-brother 'close to death' in a brutal attack after a row over their dad's ashes.

Peter Hogg slammed his unconscious victim's head against the pavement in the shocking incident, the Liverpool Echo reports. His step-brother was left fighting for his life and is still in hospital more than eight months later.

Liverpool Crown Court heard how the attack in the early hours of December 2 last year was captured on CCTV footage.
