Former Dumfries and County player Connor Syme got some Swiss bliss with his best finish of the season on Sunday. The 28-year-old secured €141,250 for finishing tied for third place at the Omega European Masters at Crans Montana, Switzerland.
Syme, who now lives in Fife, was able to secure his highest finish on the tour just weeks after coming fourth in the ISPS Handa World Invitational in Northern Ireland.
The weekend didn’t get off to the best start for Syme who bogeyed the very first hole of the tournament on Thursday before hitting six birdies throughout the rest of the round to end day one on -5.
Three more dropped shots on Friday were cancelled out by another six birdies as Syme made his way up the table on -8. A second round of 65 (-5) on Saturday put Syme in contention and he was able to repeat his second round by ending on -3 for the day with six birdies and three bogeys for a -3 67 as he ended the weekend in third place on -16.
