Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford's This Morning colleague has suggested that their shock sacking from the show led to their split. The TV duo, both 64, left fans gobsmacked over the weekend when they announced they were divorcing after 14 years of wedded bliss. They had been an item for 27 years and have a 22 year old son, Jack.

Ruth and Eamonn became household favourites while presenting This Morning on Fridays and during school holidays. However, they were abruptly given the boot from the morning programme in 2021 and were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.Their former co-star has now hinted that this was the "beginning of the end for their marriage." Behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings, who has regularly popped up on This Morning, confessed she "never noticed any cause for concern" about their relationship but she made claims that their departure from This Morning, after more than a decade on the show, significantly strained their relationship.

She observed Eamonn and Ruth as being "comfortable" presenting together and despite their "bickering" and "differences of opinion," Jo said it was "done with warmth, ease, and affection." The TV star believed the couple working together "made them stronger," unlike many couples who would find it a "strain." "When they were handed their marching orders from the daytime show, it will have been hard for both sides of their life - personal and professional," Jo spilled to The Sun.They quickly found themselves on different schedules as Eamonn fronted his morning show, while Ruth appeared on Loose Women over lunch time." Jo commented: "In fact, it's often the beginning of the end when quality time isn't carved out." She speculated that they probably weren't having date.
