Princess Diana and Wayne Sleep's iconic duet to Billy Joel's Uptown Girl in 1985 has been fondly remembered as a highlight for Royal and dance fans alike.
The pair lit up the stage at the Royal Opera House with their memorable performance. On an episode of This Morning (Thursday, August 1st), British dancer Wayne appeared but seemed hesitant to spill the beans about his time with Diana, prompting hosts Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson to steer the conversation towards their historic dance routine.
Eventually opening up, Wayne recounted with a sense of humour, much to the amusement of everyone at ITV, that he was knackered when he first encountered his soon-to-be Royal dance mate, as reported by the Express.
Wayne shared the instance of receiving an unexpected call from Diana herself, relaying her words: "I haven't met you but I want to dance with you." The dancer candidly talked about his initial fears of spectators making a mockery of their performance because he'd found the Princess to be so "tall and beautiful" and believed he couldn't match up to her standard.
