Police are investigating after thieves ploughed a into a convenience store in an early-morning ram-raid before making off with booze and fags.Crooks crashed the green Kia Sportage into the Premier shop on Claypotts Road in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, at around 4.30am on Wednesday January 18.
One of the thugs is then believed to have leapt out of the motor to gather up bottles of vodka, cigarettes and loose tobacco.The Record understands that the driver then tried to restart the motor, but had damaged the car after crashing it through the window of the shop.
He and his accomplice are then believed to have picked up what they could and disappeared into the night on foot.Saim Mohammed, owner of the store, was alerted to the dramatic incident when police called him to tell him about the raid.
He said: "I've looked at the CCTV and what happened is the car was properly smashed through the window, then someone came into the shop and started collecting tobacco, cigarettes and vodka.
