Manchester United's pre-season tour to the United States of America can be the ideal opportunity for Donny van de Beek to stake his claim for a place in Erik ten Hag's first-team squad next season.

Van de Beek is out for the remainder of the campaign after suffering a significant knee injury during a match against Bournemouth in January.

Ten Hag is confident the midfielder will be back in time to participate in pre-season while the Dutchman shared an encouraging update on his rehabilitation.

He has made only 10 appearances come this season having been reunited with his former Ajax coach Ten Hag in the summer. Van de Beek played more than 100 times under the current United manager while they were together in their native Netherlands.
