Having first appeared on our screens back in 1983, Trudie Goodwin became a familiar face to viewers up and down the country as she starred in The Bill.
Taking the role of Sergeant June Ackland, 71 year old Trudie appeared in the police drama for over three decades and was the show’s longest-running character before she stepped back from the programme in 2007.
Speaking to the Mirror in 2005 ahead of her exit, the actress explained that despite her decision to leave the show, she’d had a “brilliant” time on The Bill. “I don't regret my decision to stay for so long for a second.
But it's time to move on,” she said, before adding her hopes for the future. “I can afford to do theatre now. I'd love to be in a West End play, something completely different,” she added. “I'd also like to spend a few months travelling around India with my husband Kit.” And when the show came to an end in 2010, Trudie gushed over the beloved show once again and during an interview with the BBC she said she’d been in a “state of shock all day” after learning that The Bill was ending.
