A teenager has spoken about losing his foot in a horror road crash just yards from his school on the last day of term.Owain Williams, 13, suffered life-changing injuries but hopes to learn to walk again with the aid of a prosthetic foot.Owen was walking home on the pavement with pals when he was seriously hurt in the smash involving a car, a van, and pedestrians.His pelvis was shattered, muscle were torn from his left thigh, and his right foot was so badly damaged that surgeons had no choice but to amputate it.Ahead of returning to school in September, Owen is in a wheelchair and his school, St Martin’s in Caerphilly, Wales, are trying to raise £80,000 to make the building accessible.The collision happened on the last day of the Easter term when Owain was looking forward to going on a kickboxing course and day trips with his family.Owain told Wales Online of the aftermath of the crash, which took place on March 31, as teachers and staff from a local nursery arrived to help.He said: “I was conscious the whole time.

I knew I had to stay conscious and breathe.“I was in shock for most of it and so didn’t feel any pain. I told myself to breathe to stay conscious.”While paramedics treated Owain, his father Paul, 43, a mobile engineer, raced from work to find his son stricken on the pavement.Expecting him to have a broken arm or leg, Paul was devastated to see the extent of the injuries.Owain was taken to University Hospital of Wales, with his dad by his side, and underwent emergency surgery.He found out he’d lost his right foot when medics undid the bandages on his leg.Four months and three operations later, Owain is starting to come to terms with the loss, but immediately made the decision to stay positive.He said: “I did not
