Scots school 'on lockdown' after police chase man in grounds

A Scots school was placed on lockdown following a police chase this afternoon.Officers stopped a man on Inverkip Road in Greenock before he ran into the grounds of Inverclyde High School in the town at around 12.45pm on Thursday.

It's understood the suspect was not armed but pupils were kept in the school while cops dealt with the incident. The 25-year-old man was then arrested and police say their enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.45pm on Thursday, April 25, 2024, officers stopped a man in Inverkip Road, Greenock.
