A scattering of new weather warnings has been issued by the Met Office for later this week, with the experts warning that sleet, snow and ice could lead to chaos for drivers and public transport users.The weather forecasters had already issued several alerts covering different parts of Scotland this week, with the entirety of the country under a warning for widespread ice and snow on Tuesday, January 16.
The impacts of the deep freeze are set to worsen as the week goes on, with further warnings of snow and ice issued by the Met Office for Wednesday and Thursday.
Again, the whole of the country faces alerts on Wednesday, January 17, although the impacts vary from region to region. Previously, a warning for snow and ice had been issued across areas in the north, east and central Scotland for Wednesday, lasting for the whole day.
A few additional alerts have also now been issued elsewhere in the country - including another one for snow and ice across Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders from 12am until 12pm on that day.
