Scotland fans caught wearing fake strips at Euro 2024 in Germany could be fined up to £4,000 due to anti-counterfeit laws.International football fever is back for the Tartan Army with thousands of replica shirts set to be bought in time for our Euro 2024 opener against Germany on Friday, June 14.

However, with the price of the newly released Scotland home and away shirt costing around £75, the rise in fake shirts is soaring.Unlike in Scotland, there are strict regulations in place in Germany when it comes to the wearing of fake football shirts.

Sports analyst Alex Hemming from Free Bets Ireland warned of the specific laws in Germany to combat the spread of fake goods.He warned that Germany enforces anti-counterfeiting laws through the German Trademark Act which prohibits the distribution, sale, and possession of fake designer goods.The penalties for carrying counterfeit items can reach up to £4,000 and German authorities conduct random checks, especially at major transport hubs.The news comes after Scotland supporters were left stunned when they found the names of England players on the back of their new knock-off strips.The tops, which resemble the official kit produced by Adidas, were reportedly purchased online from a website in China for a cut-price fee of £15 compared to the £75 required to buy the real version.But Tartan Army fans who bought the kits were in for a shock after finding names of Three Lions stars Mason Mount and Jude Bellingham on the back of the strips.Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) user Scotland’s Coefficient posted a picture of the fake kits on Wednesday along with the following caption: “Mate just sent me these pictures – the dangers of buying fake tops.
