Defiant Ryan Porteous already reckons the English Championship is a better standard than Scotland's top-flight. Porteous left Hibs for a new start during the January transfer window as he penned a four-and-a-half-year deal with Watford and he marked his Hornets debut with a goal during Saturday's trip to Reading.
The Scotland international got on the end of Matheus Martins corner in trademark style to put his side 2-0 up shortly after half-time before Tom Ince and Jeff Hendrick hit back for the Royals to ensure the spoils were shared.
And the 23-year-old believes the quality on show elapsed what he was used to in the Scottish Premiership. Reacting to his near-perfect debut, Porteous said: "It was good.
I think the tempo is pretty similar to Scotland. I think the quality is a lot better. I enjoyed it. It's end-to-end stuff. As I said, it's pretty similar to what I've been used to so hopefully I can gel in quite nice."I like to vary my runs in the box, sometimes go back and sometimes go front.
