King Charles and Queen Camilla are enjoying a much-needed day off following the King's Coronation, according to reports. The monarch, 74, and his wife, 75, will not be appearing publicly on Monday, despite Coronation celebrations continuing across the UK with the Big Help Out volunteering event.
While Royals such as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will be out and about, Charles and Camilla will taking a break from public engagements.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed the King and Queen's absence from the Big Help Out, saying other members of the Royal Family will be attending instead.
A palace spokesperson said: “While wholly supportive of the Big Help Out initiatives taking place right across Britain on Monday May 8, [the King and Queen] will not be attending any events in-person.These will instead be attended by other members of the royal family.” It has also been reported that Charles opted to head to Highgrove on Saturday after the day's festivities came to an end, as he found Windsor far too "noisy" with preparations and rehearsals for Sunday's Coronation Concert taking place.
