Sir Rod Stewart had to unfortunately cancel his monumental 200th show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas due to a nasty strep throat infection. The raspy-voiced rocker, aged 79, was all geared up to mark the end of his The Hits residency on Wednesday (August 7), a gig he's heartily delivered over 13 years in Vegas.

But a sorrowful Sir Rod pulled out mere hours before what would have been an epic final curtain call at The Colosseum, saying, "desperately sorry".

In a statement revealing the tough decision, he shared, "Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me." "I'm absolutely gutted.

I've been looking forward to this concert for so long." Conveying his disappointment, he apologised: "My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused.Thankfully we'll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there." NHS experts say strep throat can trigger symptoms including a sore throat, rash, nausea, vomiting and muscle pain, but it's typically not serious and is treatable with antibiotics, reports the Mirror.
