Rides were suddenly brought to a halt at Alton Towers on Sunday (June 18) due to the thunderstorm. The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning across the UK with thunder and heavy rain expected.

Alton Towers said the decision to stop and close some of the rides at the park was due to the 'adverse weather conditions' and was a 'precautionary measure' to 'protect the health and wellbeing of employees and guests.'
