Raye releases powerful video for Ice Cream Man

Taken from her album ‘My 21st Century Blues’, the song and video reflect on the singer’s own experience of sexual assault.The self-directed video closes with a message from Raye, reading: “When I experienced sexual assault and rape, I didn’t tell anyone.
One in four people experience sexual assault in their lifetime. The odds are that is at least 25% of you reading this”.“This evil has more power over us in the dark than it does the light”, she concludes. “If I can encourage anything, let’s not bury it deep down inside us forever”.‘My 21st Century Blues’ was released last month in partnership with Human Re Sources, Raye having been finally released from her record contract with Universal Music’s Polydor label last summer.
