Caroline Brew editor Production management veterans Kim Barrett and Michael J. Tamburro have teamed to launch Take 2 Risk & Safety, a company focused on offering specialized risk management and safety consulting services for film, TV and live productions.
The firm’s goal is to “revolutionize” safety practices for the entertainment industry, the partners stated. Take 2 Risk & Safety aims to offer consulting services to make productions and live events safer for all involved, as well as to help identify operational risks and optimize insurance plans.
Take 2 Risk & Safety will also offer aviation consulting services, in a nod to the increased use of aerial photography and drones in high-end productions.
The launch of the company comes on the heels of a number of deadly accidents on movie and TV sets in recent years. The need for a next-generation look at Hollywood’s safety rules came into sharp focus with the 2021 tragic shooting death on the set of the indie film “Rust,” which took the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. “Our vision for Take 2 is clear: entertainment should be thrilling, not threatening,” Tamburro said. “We’re here to safeguard that principle and embed this ethos into the fabric of industry standards.” Barrett has led the Warner Bros.
