Experienced St Johnstone defender Andy Considine admits he was instantly impressed by the ability and attitude of rising star Fran Franczak. The 16-year-old youth academy graduate has started the last two games for Saints and, on Wednesday, was given the nod in front of a near 50,000 fans at Ibrox.Just like against Hibs last weekend, he handled himself well and that came as no surprise to former Scotland international Considine. Now Franczak, from Aberfeldy, is being backed to build on his latest experience.Considine said: “First and foremost, when I saw him in training he stood out like a sore thumb.

Honestly, he did.“He was brilliant, held his own and with the ball at his feet he is a talented boy. Honest truth, I thought he might have been in the starting 11 before Hibs last weekend.“Age means nothing because, if you’re good enough, you should play.

He is more than good enough.“He has been brilliant across the past two appearances and long may that continue.“Fran has been a breath of fresh air to the team and the dressing room.

We’re all delighted for him and he’s keeping some boys on their toes.”Considine remembers his Aberdeen first team debut at the age of 17 so knows the emotions Franczak will be feeling.“It was a last game of the season and we lost to Dundee,” he recalled.“After that, the only other appearances I would get would be away at Ibrox or Celtic Park because it was almost like a free hit.“On Wednesday, there was almost 50,000 people and, as a 16 or 17-year-old, you think ‘oh my word’.
