The price of duty on beer, cider, wine and spirits will be frozen until next summer. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced in his autumn statement on Wednesday that alcohol duty will be frozen until August 1 next year.

Speaking to the Commons he said: “As well as confirming our Brexit Pubs Guarantee, which means duty on a pint is always lower than in the shops, I have decided to freeze all alcohol duty until August 1st next year. Jeremy Hunt told the Commons that the OBR “expects the economy to grow by 0.6% this year and 0.7% next year. After that, growth rises to 1.4% in 2025, then 1.9% in 2026, 2% in 2027 and 1.7% in 2028”.
