'Presentable' intruder punches and threatens to strangle woman, 65, in her own home before taking cash in raid

A woman was punched in the face in her own home by an intruder who threatened to strangle her before stealing cash and fleeing.

The 65-year-old had come home and gone upstairs at her house in Heaton Moor, Stockport when she came back down to find a man standing in her hallway 'rummaging through her handbag.' He then demanded money from her punched her in the face and 'made threats of strangulation if she did not comply with his demands' Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. GMP say it is not known in which direction he travelled. The force says there were 'multiple members of the public on this road before and after this incident' which happened just before 7pm on Monday, February 19.

And they are appealing for anyone who witnessed it or anyone who may have information that can help them trace the culprit, to urgently come forward.
