Police investigating eight reports of sexual assault in three days, all of which are believed to be linked, have arrested a man in his 30s as part of their investigations.

The sexual assaults, the majority of which were reported in the Tameside area of Greater Manchester, are reported to have happened between last Friday (July 8) and Monday (July 10).

The first incident was reported on a tram heading towards Ashton-under-Lyne on Friday, followed by a second incident in a pub in Manchester on Monday. That same day, there were three further reports of separate incidents on public transport, followed by reports of one on a road in Droylsden, and a further two on a footpath in the Ashton area.

Officers investigating the reports believe the incidents to be linked. A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and remains in police custody for questioning while enquiries are ongoing.
