Police appeal after man seriously injured in Stockport crash

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward after a crash in Stockport town centre left an elderly pedestrian with ‘serious injuries’.

Emergency services raced to the scene near the Stockport Air Raid Shelters at 10am yesterday (May 31). The air ambulance was spotted landing nearby.

A police cordon remained in place until just after 3:30pm and unconfirmed reports surfaced that an elderly man had been struck by a car. In an update today, Greater Manchester Police confirmed a 76-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ following the crash.
