Photos reveal construction of first opening road bridge to cross the Clyde

The first opening road bridge on the River Clyde is one step closer to being a reality following construction of the huge structure.

New images show the crossing point that will soon connect Renfrew with Clydebank and Yoker ahead of its installation. The bridge is being fabricated in Holland and Belgium before being fixed into position next year by civil engineers GRAHAM.It will be the first opening road bridge across the Clyde, thus allowing river traffic to pass through.Renfrewshire Council shared these photos of the bridge and aerial shots of the site where the bridge will be located.

D ownload here: smarturl.it/RenfrewLiveSocial Before the bridge can be installed, there are a number of jobs needing to be done, these include: diverting the Yoker Burn into a new environmentally friendly water channel; building the connecting road and roundabout to join onto Dock Street in Clydebank; starting steel works for the bridge pier foundations, working with Scottish Power Energy Networks to install power connections; and constructing the new road between the bridge and Argyll Avenue in Renfrew.A Renfrewshire
