Pensioner fighting for his life after van reversed into him in hit and run

An elderly man is fighting for his life in hospital after been knocked down in a hit and run. The pensioner, in his 80s, is in a critical condition following the incident in Littleborough, Rochdale.

Police say he was left with life-threatening injuries after a van reversed into him while he was crossing Hare Hill Road in the centre of the town.

The driver of the van fled the scene. An investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made. Sgt Andrew Page, of GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We would like to appeal to any witnesses of this collision, or anyone who has dash-cam footage and was driving in the area around the time of the incident to come forward."
