Luncarty manager Robbie Holden heaped praise on the penalty-saving heroics of goalkeeper Craig Hepburn in Saturday’s crucial win against Whitehill Welfare.Hepburn, who is currently at the club on loan from St Johnstone, pulled off an impressive stop from 12 yards before quickly keeping out the rebound too when the Bleachers, who were reduced to 10 men, led 2-1.Olly Hamilton and Rhys Davies had netted the all-important goals for the Perthshire team who sit third in the First Division.Holden said: “Craig’s saves were outstanding.

But it doesn’t surprise you.“He’s getting better and better all the time. I think he has a massive future in the game and he’s a great character as well.

What an addition he has been this year.”He added: “It was a tough game. Whitehill have had their tails up lately and are a big threat in the attacking areas.“Our squad is depleted again with injury so to hang on with 10 men in the manner we did was really positive.”Luncarty last week revealed that Holden and his management team will be stepping down at the end of this season.Holden said yesterday: “The club announced that we will move on at the end of the season to a new role.“They had to do that to ensure they can prepare for next year but we all have a great relationship with the committee.“We need to finish the job this season and then we will start to prepare for next.

At the moment all we can think about is trying to get that promotion over the line.”Luncarty face Dunipace in the First Division on Wednesday evening at Brownlands Park.
