One of your old 50p coins could be worth £410

A 50p coin from 2009 has sold for £410 in an online bidding war. Bidders scrambled to get their hands on the 50p coin, which sold for 820 times its original value.

There are several coins out there which could be worth considerably more than their value, so if you have spare change lying about it's well worth having a look through it.

If you're lucky you could be, quite literally, in the money. The latest coin people are being told to look out for is a 2009 Kew Gardens coin.

It's estimated to be worth around £140, but as the years go by, they are becoming increasingly more collectible, and appear to be going up in price online.
