Indian Olympian Vinesh Phogat has been hospitalised in Paris after going to extreme lengths to lose weight in order to compete in today's wrestling final, 7 August. The wrestler was set to face the US' Sarah Hildebrandt in the 50kg freestyle category, but was disqualified on the morning of the fight for being a reported 150g overweight. The athlete had learned earlier in the week that she was 2kg over her 50kg threshold and had gone to great measures to shed the pounds - including jogging and cycling through the night.

However, these measures had a negative impact on Vinesh's health and had her faint of dehydration after the disqualification, meaning she was taken to hospital.

While she was set for either a silver or gold medal in the final, Vinesh will now place last and finish with no medal due to the weight issue.
