Nicky Campbell has revealed an internet troll who falsely accused him of being the BBC star at the centre of a scandal has been cautioned by police and handed over a cash settlement.
The Radio 5 presenter was amongst a group of male BBC stars who were falsely named after it emerged that a presenter had allegedly paid £35,000 for explicit photographs.
Newsreader Huw Edwards, who resigned from his role at the cooperation on medical grounds earlier this year, was later revealed as being the famous face at the centre of the claims.
His identity was revealed after days of speculation that suggested Campbell, along with Gary Lineker, Jeremy Vine and Rylan Clark could be the individual behind the report.
