The nomination is Paulson’s ninth, all for playing different characters. She’s the first actor to accomplish that feat and it says reams about the versatility with which she practices her craft. “It means audiences have accepted me playing different people and haven’t just gotten attached to me as a character that they love,” she says. “It means they’re responding to my work and not just to me as a person or a character I’ve played that they love.” In addition to Mr. & Mrs.
