Nicholas Jerry Jonas (born September 16, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter and actor. Jonas began acting in theater at the age of seven, and released his debut single in 2002 which caught the attention of Columbia Records where Jonas formed a band with his older brothers, Joe and Kevin, known as the Jonas Brothers. The group released their debut studio album It's About Time through the Columbia label in 2006.
After leaving Columbia Records and signing with Hollywood Records, the group released their self-titled second studio album in 2007, which became their breakthrough record.
The band became prominent figures on the Disney Channel during this time, gaining a large following through the network and they appeared in the widely successful musical television film Camp Rock (2008) and its sequel Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010) as well as two of their own series, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream (2008–2010) and Jonas (2009–2010).
Nick Jonas wants to raise awareness about an issue that is very personal to him. The 30-year-old Jonas Brothers singer spoke as part of a panel at SXSW called “Crushing: The Burden of Diabetes on Patients.” Nick was first diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 13. Keep reading to find out more… “It was an interesting journey not only for me, but for my whole family and community to go through,” Nick said. “But I think coming out of that and getting my glucose regulated, I wanted to make it a priority to speak and advocate for this disease, for young people and, you know, all people living with both Type 1 and Type 2.” Nick also discussed the important relationship between physical health and mental health. “Mental health is a very important conversation that affects every aspect of all of our lives,” he told the Austin American-Statesman in an interview. “When you compound that with something like diabetes, there are naturally going to be things in overlap with that.” Mental health therapy showed him how much he could “improve [his] life both mentally and physically” and noted that “for young men, it’s an important thing that can be overlooked.” Nick recently collaborated with Dexcom for a 2023 Super Bowl commercial in order to promote continuous glucose monitors because they have improved his quality of life. “Once CGM (continuous glucose monitors) came into my life and became a part of my management of my disease, things got a whole lot easier,” Nick said. “I am incredibly grateful to have this technology and be in a spot where I’m getting readings so frequently.
