Neilston boss Kevin Muirhead believes his players couldn’t ask for a bigger incentive to go on and win the Demolition Cup.The Farmer’s Boys recovered from Port Glasgow’s early opener on Saturday afternoon to win 2-1 and book a quarter-final showdown with either Thorn Athletic or St Peters.The winners of the Demolition Cup, lifted last season by Renfrew, go into a play-off for a coveted spot in the senior Scottish Cup.And while there’s plenty of work to do before making that dream a reality, Muirhead is urging his squad to grasp the opportunity with both hands.He told Express Sport: “It was a classic cup-tie against Port Glasgow.

They went ahead after just four minutes and then it was a case of us trying to break them down for the rest of the game.“Dom Reilly got us level after 60 minutes and then it looked like we were heading for penalties until a bit of magic from Darren Jones sealed the win in injury-time.“We’ll be favourites to win that quarter-final but sometimes we don’t meet our own standards when we’re playing teams from the lower leagues.“We certainly won’t be taking either Thorn or St Peters lightly and if we can beat them and then avoid Drumchapel in the semi-finals, who are probably the biggest team left in the competition, then we’ve got a great chance.“The great thing about the Demolition Cup is that it gives you that shot at the senior Scottish Cup next season.“That’s a massive incentive and it would be a huge moment for the club to be involved in that.“But there’s still a lot of work to do before we can even start dreaming about that and our focus must remain on the job in hand.”Neilston are in cup action again this weekend, facing Lanark United in round one of the West of Scotland Cup.Elsewhere at the
