Mum's heartbreak as baby dies 27 minutes after birth following 'midwife mistake'

A couple have shared their heartbreak after losing their baby girl 27 minutes after she was born due to what they believe was 'neglect by midwives'.

Aliona, daughter of first-time parents Fiona Winser-Ramm and her partner Daniel, died on New Year's Day, 2020. Fiona was 41 weeks into her first pregnancy when she was booked in for an induced labour, YorkshireLive reports.

On the day of the induction, whilst she was still at home, contractions began spontaneously. Fiona, of Leeds, was advised by the maternity assessment centre (MAC) at Leeds General Infirmary that she could remain at home.

Contractions continued and the following morning, and Fiona telephoned the MAC and reported discharge.
