Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.
Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.
After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.

Sharing a photo in which the group of four women looked glammed up for their night at the gig, Sue added a caption that said: “That’s us all ready to go and watch Taylor Swift… Liverpool here we come.” Sue, who is known for the TV series 22 Kids and Counting, has revealed that she and her family are gearing up for a busy summer that includes decorating their 10 bedroom mansion in Morecambe.
Last week, she posted about her plans, even though she wasn’t firmly set on what she wanted: "Really want to decorate our lounge and replace these units but can't decide what I would like." The post included a snapshot of their current living space, boasting wooden floors, chic grey walls, and a cosy fireplace with a TV mounted above.Their large home spans four floors, has its own bar, a £27,000 swimming pool and an outdoor cinema.There is also a laundry room with an 18kg washing machine that can cope with the nine loads of washing Sue and the family do each day.
