French actor Alain Delon’s family have won their legal fight to stop his healthy dog from being killed so the pup could be buried alongside him.
Alain died on Sunday 18 August at the age of 88, and it was revealed that he had asked for his favourite dog, Loubo, to be put down and buried with him at the cemetery at his home in the village of Douchy in northern France.
His family and animal rights campaigners objected, and it has now been confirmed that Loubo has been spared. According to a spokesperson from the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, as reported by the Daily Mail, the family has confirmed that Loubo would be looked after. “'I've just had Anouchka Delon on the phone and she has told me that Loubo is part of the family and will be kept. The dog will not be put down,” the spokesperson said.
Alain was known for his love of animals, and after owning 50 dogs during his life, he told Paris Match in 2018 that Loubo was his favourite. “He's my end-of-life dog… I love him like a child.
