Mountain rescue crews have joined the desperate search for a hillwalker who went missing on the Isle of Rum.Mary Molloy, 68, vanished during a hike at the weekend, with emergency services quickly called in to assist.
The grandmother was last spotted walking in the area between Trollabhal and 'Bealach an Fhuarain' at around 2.30pm on Saturday, May 25.
It is feared that Mary may have become disoriented when making her way back to the Dibidil area. Pictures shared by the Skye Mountain Rescue Team on Tuesday showed crews desperately searching for Mary.A helicopter could be seen hovering in the clouds while volunteers with binoculars scanned the mountains. In a post on Facebook, a spokesperson for the rescue team said: "Over the past two days, eleven members of our team have been on the Isle of Rum searching for missing hillwalker Mary Molloy.
Sadly, despite extensive efforts and covering much rough terrain, Mary has not yet been found. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Mary's family and friends during this difficult time."We were there to assist Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, along with Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, Search & Rescue Dog Association (Scotland) , Polscot teams, and the Coastguard.
