Michael Mosley explains 40 second exercise that could help you stay young

Keeping fit and healthy is important throughout life but it can become increasingly difficult as we age.However, there may be one simple exercise that could help keep you young, with the activity explained by Dr Michael Mosley.

The nutrition expert is the creator of diet plans such as the 5:2 and Fast 800, with his advice helping many trim down and improve their overall health.And now the expert is suggesting giving cycling a go in a bid to stay young after discovering a recent study on the topic.

Doctor Mosley explained in his Daily Mail column how he has been looking at the latest science on how to keep the body and the brain youthful in research for a new radio show.During his research, Dr Mosley noticed a study published in the Journal of Physiology earlier this year.

The study included participants from the age of 18 to 56 who completed short bursts of high-intensity training on a bike. During the intense exercise, it was found that levels of a protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) was boosted by 300 per cent.
