'Maybe Martyn's death wasn't for nothing... now others will be safer'

Figen's son Martyn Hett was one 22 people killed in the terror attack on May 22, 2017. And since then she's tirelessly fought to increase protection against terrorism.
And today Martyn's Law, named in honour of the 29-year-old PR manager from Stockport, was implemented. READ MORE: After years of tireless campaigning, Martyn's Law will finally be a reality Figen told the Manchester Evening News it had been a day of 'mixed feelings'.
She said: "I am exhausted. I am still processing everything. I can't believe we have finally reached the stage where we are at the beginning of the end. "It's taken a while and there is a way to go yet, but hopefully it will on the statute books by the eighth anniversary [of the attack].
