Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has claimed his old team should have broken the bank for Erling Haaland. Haaland's departure from Borussia Dortmund was the story of the 2022 summer transfer window and he ultimately joined City.
He hit the ground running and has scored 31 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions, including a hat-trick against United earlier in the season.
And, speaking to OLBG, Yorke said his former club should have gone all out for Haaland when they had the chance, believing January arrival Wout Weghorst to be a positive addition but not enough to take United to the next level. "They've just brought in Wout Weghorst, he gives us a different dimension but he's not explosive enough. "Weghorst is a Peter Crouch type of player, Manchester United need a striker who will get them 25 goals a season.
