Manchester Day returns on Saturday, July 29, with a new look and a full day of free family events. There will be no parade this year, instead Deansgate will be transformed into a "seaside destination", while huge animal puppets and performers will roam the city streets across the whole afternoon.
Themed as Manchester Day - on Holiday, the family-friendly events will all begin from 12noon, running until 6pm. Then from 6pm, the party will move into the Northern Quarter for the first Manchester Day evening of celebrations with a carnival atmosphere and live musical performances from creative arts specialists Walk the Plank.
Councillor Pat Karney, chair of the event said: "This year’s Manchester Day on Holiday promises to be the highlight of the city’s jam-packed summer schedule.
The Council and Walk the Plank have been working hard to ensure that this year’s Manchester Day on Holiday will be the best outing to date and it will be.
