A man shot at police with a gun during a terrifying incident after he set his own flat on fire. He had said he would kill his wife and dog and kicked down a neighbour's door when his partner ran there for safety.Shaun Wakefield, 47, showed a gun when police came to his place in Newport on April 5 last year.

A video taken by someone living nearby shows him pointing the airgun at the police who were trying to make him feel calm, Wales Online reported.

At Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday, it was said that Shaun was acting strangely because he was not well in his mind. His wife said he tried to hurt himself in a taxi, grabbed the steering wheel, and said things that didn't make sense because he was scared.Shaun is said to have knocked his wife over in their flat and told her: "You're going to burn b****.

I'm going to leave us all in here and we're going to die." He meant himself, his wife, and their dog.Megan Jones, who tells the court what happened, said Shaun's wife took the dog to a neighbour's flat and called the police.
